INTO THE WOODS
ONCE upon a time… on 24th – 26th November 2006 in a beautiful country house on a hill over the Thames (and five minutes from Junction 4 on the M40) - a unique opportunity for people of all ages to explore the resonance of fairytales in everyday life with experienced workshop facilitators Rosemary Napper and Trudi Newton.
Some psychological perspectives on fairytales will be explored by the grown ups - Berne, Jung, Bettelheim, Adam Philips, along with other views from Angela Carter and Marina Warner. There will also be some optional workshops for under-17s to create serious fun with the drama of fairytales and the nature of quest with trained facilitators. A thread through the weekend will be the wit and melody of Stephen Sondheim's musical ‘Into the Woods'.
The weekend is open to anyone who is curious about the endurance and nature of fairytales and who wants a thought provoking time full of good humour and good company. No previous knowledge of psychological ideas about fairy stories is needed and any ideas about the potency of fairytales in all cultures will be welcomed.
The venue is a splendid old house with log fires, a baby grand piano, a park with a 14th Century tree, and enough room to sleep 35 plus a few more children on extra mattresses. (There are a few places for local people who wish to sleep at home). There is promise of locally produced organic vegetables and different diets can be catered for.
So come for a delightful weekend which is incredibly good value. Bookings will be taken on a first come basis, if you need more information contact:
